APP-MOBILITY partners

APP-MOBILITY is run by partners and universities of the European Dual Studies University – EU4Dual. We are a group of six main partners and five associated institutions.

ESTIA, Savonia, Mondragon University, and MCAST each leads dual studies in their country and brings unique expertise in dual education. The KIC and EURASHE provide additional support.

Together we offer research knowledge, curriculum design, and workplace training expertise. We all have strong industry connections in our respective regions.

This diversity ensures APP-MOBILITY meets the unique needs of various European contexts.

Why we partnered up

We are creating a fair and unified system to help students in dual study programmes gain real-world experience abroad.

We envision graduates equipped with unique, globally competitive skills gained through our new apprenticeship mobility framework.

We pioneer apprenticeship standards and evaluations. We also provide 6 new industrial mobility programmes, and a searchable register of 200 companies.

Why we’re participating

Since our creation, ESTIA has focused on enhancing mobility opportunities for students. We prepare future engineers for a globalised world through trilingual education.

We focus on international mobility. Students can gain six months of experience abroad through academic exchanges, internships, or co-supervised programmes with European partners.

Our commitment to international collaboration has led to various academic partnerships. We have also joined the EU4Dual European alliance. Our location in a bilingual, cross-border region helps us build a strong framework for joint dual education and apprenticeship mobility.

Our role in the project

ESTIA coordinates the project and connects project partners with the Granting Authority. We ensure compliance with agreements, manage finances, submit reports, organise meetings, and submit documents on time.

We also lead Work Package 2 on defining models for mobility within alliances.

SAVONIA website

Why We’re Participating

One of our goals is to create a work-life-focused higher education model, the Dual 2.0 model. This will help us provide high-quality and cost-effective education.

Key actions of our Dual 2.0 model include:

  • deepening cooperation between degree education and working life
  • creating collaborative structures between higher education institutions
  • enhancing demand-driven approaches in continuous learning
  • expanding international education based on identified needs

Creating new models of work-life oriented mobility is one way to implement our Dual 2.0 model.

Our role in the project

Savonia promotes compliance and transparency in recruiting, contracting, and paying students for internships, training periods, and apprenticeships.

We develop standard apprenticeship work contract protocols. We achieve this through legal research, stakeholder workshops, and pilot testing. Our goal is to boost efficiency and fairness for everyone involved.

Why we’re participating

MCAST aims to enhance our dual education model and strengthen ties between education and the workforce.

The AppMobility project aligns with our goals of internationalisation, inclusion, and innovation in vocational education. It helps us develop flexible mobility models that meet real-world demands and adapt to changing learner needs.

This aligns with our aim to improve the quality and recognition of apprenticeships. We also want to build sustainable mobility partnerships and create more inclusive learning environments across Europe.

Our role in the project

MCAST shares its expertise in managing high-quality Erasmus+ mobilities for vocational students and apprentices. We co-lead the design of practical mobility tools, ensure quality assurance, and promote strong employer engagement.

With our experience in work-based learning and student support, we create inclusive mobility models for diverse learners. We also help share project results, validate them, and build sustainable frameworks for credit recognition and dual training across Europe.

EURASHE website

Why we’re participating

EURASHE is part of the APP Mobility project. Our goal is to create a high-quality European system for dual education apprenticeship mobility.

We are the leading association for applied higher education, representing 547 institutions in 31 countries. We use our experience in European policy, advisory groups, and Communities of Practice—like research, quality assurance, and skills—to promote clear pathways, mutual recognition, and learning innovation.

This approach ensures the project’s outcomes align with EU policy goals. It also boosts competitiveness and enhances employability, inclusion, and cooperation throughout Europe.

Our role in the project

EURASHE leads the development of standardised evaluation criteria for companies hosting students. We begin with a comprehensive literature review of existing standards and best practices across the EU.

We organise focus groups and interviews with key stakeholders—educators, employers, and policymakers—to gather feedback on evaluation responsibilities and essential criteria.

We synthesise findings to draft core evaluation criteria covering legal compliance, student welfare, training quality, and academic alignment. We also develop training for evaluators, company supervisors, and academic advisors.
